  Jesus Prophecy & Fulfillment

This is a page, to hopefully more easily give you the study I put together several years ago, entitled: "Jesus Prophecy and Fulfillment." Hopefully this will work better than other ways I have listed it, if you want to look at it on your phone. The numbers, are for the file track numbers, if you download the files in the zip folder, to put it into your device permenately.

This player below, is for if you want to hear me read you most of the scriptures below, without downloading the files into your device, and perhaps read along at the same time.

The Messiah, Jesus Christ

Prophecy and Fulfillment

V1.2

001 Isaiah 28:9 - 11

9Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

002 John 5:39 Jesus said, "Ye search the scriptures, for ye think that in them ye have life eternal, and they are they which testify of me;"

003 John 1:45 "Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." (KJV)

004 Act 18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks. 5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ. (KJV)

PROPHECY:

005 Micah 5:2 (This prophecy was written down about 700 yrs. before Jesus was born)

"And thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall he come forth unto me who is to be Ruler in Israel: whose goings forth are from of old, from the days of eternity."

But the little family into which Jesus arrived was not from Bethlehem, but Nazareth. What brought the family to Bethlehem for Jesus birth?

FULFILLMENT:

006 Luke 2:1 - 4 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

PROPHECY:

007 Isaiah 7:14 (approximately 700 B.C.)"Therefore will the Lord himself give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive and shall bring forth a son, and call his name Emmanuel."

Was Jesus born of a virgin?

FULFILLMENT:

008 Matthew 1:18 & 19 "18Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily."

Had Jesus not been born of a virgin He could not have been the Messiah.

PROPHECY:

009 Genesis 49:10 The scepter will not depart from Judah, Nor the lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh come, And to him will be the obedience of peoples.

Shiloh (an ancient name for Messiah) was to come of the tribe of Judah.

Almost everyone knows that he was a Jew, but was he of the tribe of Judah?

FULFILLMENT:

010 Luke 3:23 & 33 "And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli."

Verses 24 through 32 contain details of the lineage of Jesus through Joseph. Verses 33 makes the connection with Judah on his earthly father's side.

Luke 3:33 Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Judah, 34.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, was also of the direct lineage of Judah. For it was only through her that he could have had a direct connections of the flesh to Judah

FULFILLMENT:

011 Romans 1:3 "Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the Flesh."

If he had been born of the tribe of Ruben, he could not have been the Messiah.

PROPHECY:

012 Isaiah 35:4 - 6 "4Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you. 5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert."

FULFILLMENT:

013 Matthew 9:27 - 31

27And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. 28And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. 31But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

FULFILLMENT:

014 Mark 9:31 - 37

31And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis. 32And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. 33And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; 34And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. 35And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. 36And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; 37And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

PROPHECY:

015 Psalms 78:2

  1. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

FULFILLMENT:

016 Matthew 13:34

34All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: 35That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

PROPHECY:

017 Isaiah 8:13 - 15

13Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 14And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

PROPHECY:

018 Psalms 22:7 & 8

7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

  1. He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

PROPHECY:

019 Psalms 118:20 - 22

20 This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.

21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.

22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

FULFILLMENT:

020 1 Peter 5:7 & 8

7Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

PROPHECY:

021 Isaiah 40:3 - 5

3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: 5And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

PROPHECY:

022 Malachi 3:1

1Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

FULFILLMENT:

023 Matthew 3:1 - 3

1In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

PROPHECY:

024 Daniel 9:23 - 27

23At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. 24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Key

025 Ezekiel 4:6

6And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

Key

026 Numbers 14:34

34After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

FULFILLMENT:

027 Ezra 7:7

7And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

028 While putting this section together, I had to look at something to be reminded how this is all added up. I decided to look on the Internet for reference materials and looked at the first website that came up in a google search. When I first started reviewing it, it looked great, but when I started trying to actually add up the numbers, they did not add up. Their explanation sounded good, and looked good. They even claimed to know to the exact day, but when I tried to add the numbers up, they didn't add up if you actually took time to use your calculator. I went over it several times praying and asking the Lord to help me see what I had missed. But it still just didn't add up.

I knew I had seen one that did, so I returned to my paper lesson studies from Amazing Facts. After comparing the two, I then realized that the one on the net was coming at it from a different angle that just didn't add up at all and was off by more than 60 years. This made me realize how important it is that we don't just take other people's word for it. We really need to spend Holy Ghost guided time to make sure that every thing adds up in our minds and with our calculators before we claim to know something even to the exact year.

I decided to search even deeper, and check out how accurate the historical dates really are.

029 I directed my attention toward the SDA Bible Commentaries of 1957, and found a section that says this:

"Dates of Ezra and Nehemiah Established. - In the light of the evidence for Jewish fall-to-fall reckoning of the year, there is no reason whatever to "correct" Nehemiah's Nisan date from the 20th to the 21st year. The logical and reasonable explanation of Neh. 1:1 and 2:1 is that they indicate the Jewish fall-to-fall year, in which months 7-12 precede months 1-6 of the same year. Therefore the journeys of Ezra and Nehemiah to Jerusalem in the 7th and 20th years of Artxerxes I are to be dated according to the Jewish fall-to-fall calendar (in which the 7th and 20th years were 458/57 and 445/44), and thus in the spring and summer of 457 and 444 B.C. respectively.

The conclusions concerning the dating of Ezra's and Nehemiah's journeys -- long a much-confused subject -- may be summarized as follows:

(1) Most modern writers, using the Egyptian year of Ptolemy's Canon or, later, the Babylonian-Persian spring-to-spring year, have placed Ezra's journey in 458 B.C. since the 7th year by either of these calendar systems (459/58 and 458/57 respectively) includes the spring and summer of 458, but ends before the month of Nisan in 457. According to this the journey of Nehemiah would have occurred in 445, although many of those who assign Ezra's expedition to 458 place that of Nehemiah in 444, on the assumption that the latter returned in the 21st year instead of the 20th.

(2) In the Jewish civil-calendar reckoning the 7th year of Artaxerxes was 458/57, fall to fall, according to the more exact evidence as we have it now from the Babylonian tablets and the Jewish papyri from Egypt. This places Ezra's return in the summer of 457 B.C. and Nehemiah's in the 20th year in 444.

Since the evidence from the Bible and from archeology favors the fall reckoning, as in (2), the dates 457 and 444 may be taken as established." SDA Bible Commentaries, Volume 3, page 103.

030 This decree, or command, in Ezra chapter 7 is the only one that specifies what is necessary to rebuild Jerusalem. Other places can be found that mention, for example, rebuilding the gates, but this one seems to provide enough people and resources for the rebuilding of the city. Though there is a dispute over the exact date as mentioned in the quote from the Bible Commentaries, historical records, considered most accurate, say that king Artaxerxes I began his rule in 464. So to get the date of the seventh year of the king Ezra chapter 7 documents, we add 7 to 464 B.C. to get the starting date for the prophecy of Daniel 9:25. We must remember that B.C. numbers count down backwards toward A.D. 1 where we start counting forward again, but they forgot to include a zero year that would mathematically compute. So we have to add one to any number that goes past zero. Now once again, we add -464 + 7 = 457 B.C.

As the dictionary points out, a score is a 20 years period. Therefore where Daniel 9:25 says that the Messiah would come seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks from the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, threescore equals 3 x 20, or 60. So 7 weeks and 3 score and 2 weeks equals 7 + 60 + 2 which equals 69 weeks. From Ezekiel 4:6 we learn that one day equals one year. So 69 weeks is actually 69 x 7, the number of days in a week, or 483 years. Now we add the 483 years of the Daniel 9:25 prophecy to the date of 457 B.C. Negative 457 + 483 = 26. This calculations took us past the zero point that they forgot to include the 0 for when remaking the calendar, so we have to add 1 to 26 which gives us 27.

"Messiah" is the Hebrew word for "Anointed One," and the word "Christ" is the Greek Equivalent as is pointed out even in the Funk and Wagnalls Encyclopedia. So 483 years before Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost, the command to restore Jerusalem was given. This means that 27 A.D. is the approximate date that Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost.

PROPHECY:

031 Daniel 9:24

24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

FULFILLMENT:

032 Luke 3:21 - 23

21Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. 23And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

FULFILLMENT:

033 Act 10:38

38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

FULFILLMENT:

034 Ezra 7:6 - 26

6This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him. 7And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king. 8And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king. 9For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him. 10For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.

11Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel. 12Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time. 13I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee. 14Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand; 15And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem, 16And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem: 17That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem. 18And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God. 19The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem. 20And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king’s treasure house. 21And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily, 22Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much. 23Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons? 24Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them. 25And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not. 26And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

PROPHECY:

035 Daniel 9:24 & 25

24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

036 70 weeks is equivalent to 70 x 7 which equals 490 years. This is the time allotted to the people of Daniel, in other words, the Jewish nation. This time period also started at the time the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem was given in 457 B.C. as was mentioned earlier.

PROPHECY:

037 Daniel 9:27

27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

038 "He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week, but in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…" One week is 7 days, or as in prophecy, seven years. In the middle of 7 years, he causes the sacrifices to cease. So half of 7 is equal to 3 and 1/2 years.

FULFILLMENT:

039 Matthew 27:50 & 51

50Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

040 When the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom, most likely by holy angles, this was a sign that the sacrifices offered in the temple no longer covered the people. And thus they would be brought to an end. Or in other words cease.

If we add 7 years to the time Jesus was anointed in A.D. 27, we come to 34 A.D. If we add 490 years, the time allotted for the Jewish nation, to the time the command was given, 457 B.C. we also arrive at 34 A.D. because -457 + 490 equals 33. Then we have to remember to add 1 to 33 for the missing 0 in the calendar, which gives us 34.

FULFILLMENT:

041 Matthew 10:5 - 7

5These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

FULFILLMENT & PROPHECY:

042 Matthew 21:43

43Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

FULFILLMENT:

043 Acts 7:54 - 60

54When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. 55But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. 57Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, 58And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. 59And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

FULFILLMENT:

044 Hebrews 2:3

3How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

045 It seems that the stoning of Stephen was the time that the 490 year period came to an end. Jesus died after 3 and 1/2 years of public ministry, then continued trying to reach the rest of the Jewish nation utilizing the agency of the Holy Ghost through which He abided with and work through those who heard Him. I expect that when we arrive in heaven, and have a chance to review the perfectly accurate historical records, we will find that these things were fulfilled even to the very day.

If some choose to question these lines of reasoning, I believe there is no reason to get to caught up on these details. There is plenty of other proof that Jesus was the Son of God without even looking at the time dates. Our main mental focus must be on looking at these things in such a way that they bring us closer to Jesus. This in a way that helps us learn to abide more and more with Him.

PROPHECY:

046 Zechariah 9:9

9Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

FULFILLMENT:

047 Matthew 21:4 - 11

4All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 6And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, 7And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. 8And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 10And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? 11And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

Details of His Death

PROPHECY:

048 Psalms 55:12 - 14

12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

FULFILLMENT:

049 Matthew 26:47 - 50

47And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. 49And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. 50And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

PROPHECY:

050 Isaiah 53:3 - 9 (approximately 710 yrs. Before his birth)

3 "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth."

PROPHECY:

050 Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

FULFILLMENT:

051 Mark 15:15 "And so Pilate, willing to content the people released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified."

Scourging was a type of beating that used a long whip. This left long horrible welts or cuts on the back of the person being scourged that appeared as stripes.

FULFILLMENT:

053 Matthew 26:67

67Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

FULFILLMENT:

054 Matthew 27:29 & 30

29And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 30And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

PROPHECY:

055 Isaiah 53:7 "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth."

*FULFILLMENT:

056 Luke 23:9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

PROPHECY:

057 Isaiah 53:9 "And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth."

FULFILLMENT:

058 Mark 15:27 "And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left."

PROPHECY:

Isaiah 53:9 "….and with the rich in his death;"

Something remarkable happens. Jesus own friends were in hiding for fear of suffering the same fate for being sympathetic toward Jesus, but to of the wealthiest men step forward apparently unconcerned about association.

FULFILLMENT:

059 John 19:38 - 41 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. 39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. 40 Then took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

It is suggested that in today's prices it cost Nicodeums $10,000 to embalm Jesus.

FULFILLMENT:

060 Matthew 27:57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:

FULFILLMENT:

061 Mark 15:43 Joseph of Arimathaea, and honorable counselor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

It is also suggested that Joseph of Arimathaea was able to gain audience with Pilate because of his wealth.

PROPHECY:

062 Zechariah 11:12 & 13 (about 600 B.C.)

"And I said unto them. If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at of then. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord."

FULFILLMENT:

063 Matthew 26:14 & 15 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests. 15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

FULFILLMENT:

064 Matthew 27:3 - 5 Then Judas which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to that. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

FULFILLMENT:

065 Matthew 27:7 - 10 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8 Wherefore that field was called , The field of blood, unto this day. 9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

PROPHECY:

066 Psalms 22:1 (approximately 1000 B.C)

"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?"

FULFILLMENT:

067 Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabach-thani? Which is being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

PROPHECY:

068 Psalms 22:16 "For Dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet."

FULFILLMENT:

069 John 20:25 "The other disciples therefore said unto him, we have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe."

PROPHECY:

070 Psalms 22:18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

FULFILLMENT:

071 Mathew 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his parments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

PROPHECY:

072 Psalms 34:20

He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

FULFILLMENT:

073 John 19:36

36For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

PROPHECY:

074 Zechariah 12:10

10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

FULFILLMENT:

075 John 19:33 - 37

33But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: 34But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. 35And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. 36For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

PROPHECY:

076 Psalms 16:10

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

FULFILLMENT:

077 Matthew 28:2 - 7

2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

PROPHECY:

078 Psalm 68:18

18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them

FULFILLMENT & PROPHECY

079 Acts 1:9 - 11

9And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

080 There is more that could be added. But this should be sufficient. What do you think the odds might be considering such conditions? After looking at this historical evidence, one could not reject Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah for lack of evidence. Those that reject Jesus must do so in-spite of overwhelming evidence. He that has the Son, has life. He that has not the Son, has not life. If you haven't already done so today, let me encourage you to, perhaps once again, ask Jesus to come into and be apart of your life. He is always willing to once again accept us. We must simply be willing to accept His forgiveness, and ask Him to make us what He wants us to be. I've found that only He can even give me the desire to ask Him to change me. I must remember to ask Him for the desire to do His will daily. He is so good and He can and will if we but ask, and continue to have patience with ourselves, and return to Him continually for the help that He is longing to provide.
